The Western Cape Premier Alan Winde, MEC of Police Oversight and Community Safety Anroux Marais, Member of Provincial Legislature and Constituency Head Nicholas Gotsell, Member of Mayoral Committee for Safety and Security in City of Cape Town JP Smith along with Cllr Raise and Cllr Lightburn op Friday, 29th of August embarked op a safety walk with Neighbourhood Watches.
The team visited Witsand, Robinvale and Saxonsea to ascertain the challenges within these hotspots and also service delivery challenges that were communicated by residents within these crime ridden areas within Subcouncil 1.
The Atlantis Police hierarchy and Law Enforcement Auxiliary Volunteers also accompanied the Premier and POCS handed over much needed equipment to neighbourhood watches.
Premier thanked the officers in uniform and the Neighbourhood Watches for their selfless contribution in keeping the communities safe.
In Witsand lighting, sewer overflows and damaged roads were identified to the Premier.
The Subcouncil 1 Chairperson, Cllr Lightburn, informed the Premier there is a working committee dealing with these matters proactively, in Dura Flats the issues include damaged roads and high verges.
At public housing and in Saxonsea residents wanted alleys closed through which gangsters run towards rival gangs. This is being attended to by the residents who are completing petitions.
