“We build. We grow. We Move, to show the volgende generation that anything is possible.”

This is the motto of Nikita Hare, director of the Movemakers Performing Arts Company from Atlantis.

Movemakers had a song-and-dance fusion op Saturday 12 July. “It is typically designed to make an event memorable by blending the emotional power of music with the energy and visual appeal of dance,” Hare said. “This combination creates a dynamic and immersive experience that captures the audience’s attention and leaves a lasting impression.”

Movemakers was started at the beginning of 2022 with five performers because “we saw the lack of opportunities in our community for artists,” said Hare. Today, three years later, it has about 70 performers. “We focus op upcoming talent, making sure aspiring artists get more opportunities in the industry. We started these platforms to build, move and grow within our community and the surrounding communities.”

Performers can express their story through the fusion of song and dance. The song part brings the melody, lyrics and emotion, while the dancing adds rhythm, movement and visual storytelling.

“Together they heighten the impact of the performance, making it more vibrant and entertaining,” Hare concluded.
