Many in South Africa enter Women’s Month with a deep reverence, mindful of the women who marched and played their part unflinchingly op the long road to freedom, justice and human rights.

Their courage echoes in every step one takes today, every shift worked and every life that’s protected, according to community leader Christelle Solomons. Addressing policewomen last week along with other keynote speakers, she said God sees every sacrifice, every sleepless night, every moment one chooses to serve with integrity.

She quoted Psalm 46: “God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day.” (5). “Let this promise anchor you not just in Women’s Month, but every day in which one’s strength is tested. You wear the uniform of authority, but also the armour of resilience, you’re often the calm in the chaos, the strength in the storm and the light in the darkest moments of our communities.

“Yet we know the weight you carry are not just the physical burdens of the job, but the emotional and spiritual ones too.

“So today I want to remind you you are not alone.

“You are not just holding the line, but changing the narrative, and being a policewoman is to live with purpose, to serve with compassion without becoming hardened, to lead with wisdom without losing softness, to face danger with courage and still return home to care, nurture and rise again.”

She told the policewomen they must never doubt their self-worth, underestimate the ripple effect of their presence, always remembering that the strength that fuels them doesn’t come just from training, but from above.

They must uplift one another, pray for one another and continue to rise not just as policewomen, but “daughters of a mighty God, built to endure, called to lead and anointed to serve”.

Pastor Denise Winckler said: “God created strong women not just to be mothers, but to lead, guide and be able to accomplish much more in life. We’re abused, trapped, yet our resilience makes us bounce back time and again.”
