Police in the Northern Cape are appealing to the public for urgent assistance following the murder of a 62-year-old man who was stabbed while trying to protect a young woman.
According to the SAPS, the fatal incident occurred on Friday 7 August at approximately 22:15 in the Samaria Shacks area of Kenilworth, Kimberley.
Investigating officers of the Kimberley Serious Violent Crimes unit report that a young woman ran to the victim’s home seeking refuge after being assaulted. When the man attempted to intervene and protect her, he was fatally stabbed.
Detectives are urgently seeking a key person of interest who may hold critical information about the attack. The individual has been identified as Shadrick Makoosi, also known by the alias “Pain”. Police believe he is originally from Lesotho.

The SAPS gives the assurance that all information provided by the public will be handled with the strictest confidentiality.
Authorities urge anyone with information regarding Makoosi’s whereabouts, or any details that could assist in the investigation, to take action immediately by contacting the investigating officer, Det.
