VREDENBURG – Badisa West Coast hosted a special Women’s Month appreciation event on Wednesday 12 August to honour foster mothers who dedicate their time and energy to making a difference in the lives of vulnerable children.

The event, held under the theme “You Matter – Celebrating the Hearts Behind Foster Care”, brought together foster mothers from Vredenburg, Saldanha, Langebaan, Green Village and Langebaanweg for a morning of appreciation, encouragement and self-care.

Guest speaker Esmeralda Mckay delivered an inspirational address, while Marni Maritz provided musical entertainment.

The foster mothers were also treated to a self-care and beauty session, giving them an opportunity to take a break from their demanding responsibilities and focus on themselves.

One of the highlights of the morning was the sharing of personal stories, with foster mothers speaking openly about their experiences, challenges and journeys in foster care. As a token of appreciation, each foster mother received a flower and certificate during a special appreciation ceremony.

Badisa West Coast also expressed its gratitude to those who helped make the event possible. Juffroushoogte Gasteplaas and Restaurant provided the venue and refreshments, while Stoneridge SuperSpar assisted with catering and bottled water.

The event served as a reminder that while foster mothers spend much of their time caring for others, they too need to be seen, supported and appreciated.

For the foster mothers, the morning was more than a Women’s Month celebration.

It was an opportunity to recognise the love, commitment and sacrifice they bring to creating safe and caring homes for children in need.
