A coordinated search operation at the Bodibeng High School in Maokeng has reinforced efforts to maintain safety and discipline in the Fezile Dabi district, with more than a thousand learners screened in a single morning.
The operation, carried out on Tuesday 28 April by the SAPS School Crime Prevention unit (SCPU) in Maokeng, focused on preventing the possession of illegal or dangerous items while strengthening cooperation between authorities, the school community and learners.
A total of 1 090 learners were searched. Officials confirmed that the process had been conducted in a professional and respectful manner, in line with legal and educational requirements.

The operation brought together a wide range of stakeholders, including the community policing forum (CPF); the Moqhaka Traffic Department and Fire Department; the Youth Crime Prevention Desk (CPYD); community development workers; the Kroonstad Highway Patrol; correctional services; and Maokeng Rural Safety. District coordination was overseen by WO Motsapole.
Authorities praised the strong collaboration between these groups to conduct the search operation at Bodibeng High School, noting that their combined presence sent a clear message about the importance of maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment.
No major incidents were reported during the operation, with school management, staff and learners said to have cooperated fully throughout.
The Maokeng SCPU reiterated its commitment to working closely with schools, community structures and government departments to safeguard learners and promote a culture of safety in local education.
