Excitement is building across the Eastern Free State while preparing to host the highly anticipated Wings and Wheels Bethlehem Airshow, an event expected to draw aviation enthusiasts, motoring fans and families from across the province.

Organisers say the event has been carefully planned to deliver an unforgettable experience while also highlighting Bethlehem as a growing destination for tourism and major community events.

What to expect

Visitors can look forward to a programme featuring everything from the timeless elegance of vintage Tiger Moth aircraft to the breathtaking speed and precision of modern aerobatic performers. One of the biggest attractions of the day will be the Bell 222 Airwolf helicopter, flown by renowned pilot Dr André Coetzee.

On the ground, vehicle enthusiasts will be treated to an extensive display of motoring history and innovation, with exhibits ranging from iconic Model T Fords to cutting-edge modern performance vehicles.

Capital Sounds will provide full outside broadcast coverage throughout the day. Well-known presenter Arnold Geerdts will host the vehicle programme, while live commentary from the flight line will ensure spectators do not miss a moment of the aerial action.

‘Prepare for a full day outdoors’

Organisers praised the commitment and dedication of chairman Jacques Windt and his organising team.

“There is nothing quite like the atmosphere of a Free State event. We have worked around the clock with the team to ensure no stone has been left unturned in making this a memorable day for the entire community,” says Windt.

Organisers have advised visitors to arrive prepared for a full day outdoors, by bringing sunscreen, hats, camping chairs, cameras and hearing protection. Certain items, including drones, fireworks, bicycles, weapons and outside food or alcohol, will not be allowed on the grounds.

Described as “family fun for everyone,” the Wings and Wheels Bethlehem Airshow is set to deliver a celebration of aviation, motoring and community spirit unlike anything the region has seen in recent years.
