St Charles College Boys Shine in Mathematics Olympiad


St Charles College, Pietermaritzburg, proudly celebrates the outstanding achievements of its students in the Second Round of the Old Mutual SA Mathematics Olympiad, written in May.

An impressive 16 boys placed in the top 100 in KwaZulu-Natal, showcasing the College’s academic strength.

  • Senior Achievers: James Isaac, Daniel Morkel, Yisun NG-Yang, James Schaefer (Form 5), and Dane Harrison (Form 6).
  • Junior Achievers: Joshua Drew, Keagan Hewer, Veer Bhagwan, Tharun Naidoo, David Krynauw, Unakho Tyalimpi, Sam Henderson (Form 3), Harry Matthews, Tyler Rajah, Zachary Francis, and Ibrahim El-Alam (Form 2).

Special recognition goes to James Isaac, who placed fifth among seniors, and Keagan Hewer, who ranked sixteenth among juniors. Both earned an ‘excellent’ rating, secured positions in the national top 100, and advanced to the third round in July.

Mrs Charlotte Pillay, Head of Mathematics, commended the boys: “We congratulate all our students on their extraordinary achievement. Their dedication and talent continue to inspire excellence at St Charles College.”
