Bishops Diocesan College, Cape Town, celebrated a truly memorable international water polo holiday. Bishop’s Boys shone as they proudly represented South Africa and Elevate on the world stage. Competing against top international opposition in Portugal, Spain, and Montenegro, they showcased skill, resilience, and sportsmanship.
Special congratulations go to Michael Mafunda, captain of the South African U18 team, and Tim Young, vice-captain, who earned Player of the Match honours against Portugal. Their leadership helped the WaterBoks secure their best U18 World Championship finish since 2018.
Their Elevate representatives also made their mark at the BIWPA Summer Cup in Barcelona. There, Jamie Thomason, Andrew Sonqishe, Troy Webb, James Dimitri-Kark, and Oliver Muller brought home a bronze medal in the U16A competition.
Currently, 16 Bishops boys are continuing their journey in Montenegro, gaining invaluable experience against some of the world’s strongest water polo programmes.
Bishops is immensely proud of all its players for representing Bishops with excellence both in and out of the pool. Their achievements reflect not only their talent but also their dedication and commitment to the sport.
