KUGOMPO CITY, Eastern Cape – Three men were shot and killed in what police believe was a targeted attack in Duncan Village, KuGompo City, on Tuesday night.
According to police, officers responded to reports of a shooting in Jiba Street, Bhebhelele Informal Settlement, Duncan Village at around 23.20 last night.
Upon arrival, police found the bodies of three men, aged 28, 36 and 37, with multiple gunshot wounds.
Eastern Cape police spokesperson Brigadier Nobuntu Gantana said several cartridges and bullet heads were also recovered from inside the shack.
Preliminary information suggests the three men allegedly forced entry into the shack after finding it locked.
“A witness stated that the deceased instructed him to remain outside and alert them if the owner of the shack returned,” said Gantana.
While the witness was standing guard, four unknown men reportedly approached and opened fire on the victims inside the shack before fleeing the scene.
The motive for the shooting remains unknown and no arrests have been made.
Police have launched a triple murder investigation and are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
