Three women between the ages of 22 and 58 years old have been arrested in connection with the alleged kidnapping of Monwabisi Williams (24) who was taken by a group of approximately 20 community members from his home in Africa Grounds, Missionvale.
According to police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, it is alleged that at approximately 09:30 on Monday, July 7, Williams, was taken by a group of approximately 20 community members from his home.
She said the community members alleged that Williams broke into a house in Khans grounds, Missionvale.
“He was dragged out, assaulted and taken away. The victim’s mother reported him missing at SAPS Algoa Park after he failed to return,” said Janse Van Rensburg.
A case of kidnapping was opened for further investigation.
On the day of the kidnapping, a 58-year-old woman was arrested on charges of kidnapping and on Tuesday, August 8, two more women suspects, aged 22 and 41 years old, were arrested in connection with the kidnapping.
She said the case had been remanded until Thursday, September 21, at the New Brighton magistrate’s court.
The suspects were released on R500 bail.
SAPS Algoa Park detectives are seeking the community’s assistance in tracing Williams, who is still missing.
