SALDANHA – A newborn baby girl was found in a Mr Price bag in Talmakkies Crescent on Sunday morning, 20 September.
According to Capt Tania Helfrich, police spokesperson for the West Coast, the baby was discovered at approximately 06:00 and taken to the Vredenburg Provincial Hospital.
“She is expected to be placed in a place of safety,” Helfrich said.
The Vredenburg Child Protection Unit is investigating the matter as a case of child abandonment.
Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is requested to report it to Sergeant Ernest van Wyk at the Vredenburg Child Protection Unit on 082 522 1001.
