Members of the Ladies’ Circle South Africa. Its Worcester chapter has a new charter .

After a year and a half of dedicated effort the Worcester Ladies’ Circle 38 proudly celebrated the adoption of its official charter over the weekend. It marks the beginning of a new chapter for the organisation, which aims to create a welcoming and empowering space for women of the town.

The journey to a charter has been a labour of love for the founding members, who recognised a clear need for a vibrant and supportive women’s organisation in the community. They wanted one that brought like-minded women, passionate about service, friendship and making a positive impact in Worcester, together.

Members, supporters and sister circles from across the region joined the weekend’s festivities, to reflect on the strong network and sense of camaraderie the Ladies’ Circle movement is known for.

The organisation originated in the United Kingdom in 1936, when women whose husbands were part of the Round Table sought their own space to connect and serve. What began as a social group quickly grew into a global organisation focusing on friendship, personal growth and community involvement. Today, the Ladies’ Circle has members in more than 30 countries united by the motto “Friendship and Service.”

The Ladies’ Circle continues to grow in South Africa, with women who want to make a difference in their communities while making friends.

Worcester Ladies’ Circle 38 Council’s founding members are Bianca Janse van Rensburg (chairman), Maryke Slabber (vice chairman), Carla Booysen (secretary), Charlise van Deventer (treasurer), Madeleine du Toit (public relations) and Noeneldi Jordaan and Mieke Janse van Rensburg.

Worcester Ladies’ Circle 38 extended a heartfelt thanks to local service organisations that supported it on its journey, including Worcester Round Table 68, Worcester Rotary, Worcester Lions and Worcester Vryburgers.

The Ladies’Circle is preparing for a Dodgeball tournament on Saturday 27 September. This is expected to be a day of fun, filled with community spirit. All the funds raised will go to local charitable initiatives, especially those supporting children in need, said Janse van Rensburg.

The Ladies’ Circle is open to new members from all walks of life. For more info, email lc38@ladiescircle.co.za
