The Cape Winelands District Municipality recently held its prestigious annual sports awards.
Athletes from across Cape Winelands were lauded for their hard work during the past season.
The event was held at Kronenburg Wine Estate recently. The Breede Valley Municipality and the Langeberg Municipality walked away with five awards altogether.
Worcester Gymnasium’s 500 kg ladies tug of war team walked away with the team of the year accolade.
Robertson High School’s 520 tug of war (TOW) mixed team was awarded School team of the year.
Touws River’s u-15 netball team, from De Kruine Secondary, recently participated in the Motsepe Tournament and was awarded the Developing School Team of the year.
Zwelethemba local Theo Modise was recognised for his Technical Excellence in Boxing.
Angelique van Jaarsveld, part of Worcester Gymnasium tug o’ war team, walked away with the Junior Sportswoman of the Year award for the sport.
Callie van der Merwe walked away as Sportsman of the Year for Bowls.
