With just one trophy up for grabs eight rugby teams are set to tackle the field at the Saldanha Super 8 Easter Tournament.

This seventh annual tournament is once again being hosted by the Saldanha Rugby Club. The official launch took place in the heart of Langebaan at Club Mykonos on Friday 20 March, attended by players, dignitaries and sponsors.

The Saldanha Super 8 Tournament is set to take place on between Thursday 2 and Monday 6 April at the Transnet Saldanha Stadium.

Rugby clubs participating include the hosts Saldanha, Vredenburg, Hawston, SK Walmers, SP Hamiltons, Naka Bulls, Multisure Evergreens and Gardens.

During the launch the draw determined that Saldanha would go head-to-head with Multisure Evergreens, Vredenburg with SP Hamiltons, Gardens with Hawston and SK Walmers with Naka Bulls.

Bertram Vraagom, director of the tournament acknowledged sponsorships and also congratulated all the selected teams.

He said the tournament is a platform where one can excell, be seen and live out ones dreams. “We are quite fortunate that the previous six tournaments have been played in tremendous spirit and with sportsmanship. We believe it will be the very same this year. I wish you a good tournament and hope that spectators will rock up in numbers, and that our dear Lord will protect us all from any serious injuries.”

The tournament will also be broadcasted on SuperSport.
