The West Coast Youth Orchestra (WCYO) is celebrating a generous donation from the Orchester der Verbandsgemeinde Saarburg-Kell in Germany, who gifted the orchestra a brand-new piccolo and a suspended cymbal.
The donation reflects a long-standing relationship between the orchestra and Erwin Berens and his team, as well as the ongoing support of Jakkie von Litsenburg, a former policeman and close friend of the orchestra.
WCYO expressed its gratitude, saying the gift will have a lasting impact op its young musicians. “We are deeply thankful for this act of friendship and international partnership.
“Support like this strengthens our programmes and gives our young musicians access to quality instruments that help them grow and perform at their best. Thank you for believing in our work and in the future of our students,” the orchestra said.
The new instruments will allow WCYO to continue providing high-quality music education and performance opportunities for youth in the region, further enriching the cultural life of the West Coast.
