LANGEBAAN – Kapstadt Brauhaus in Langebaan was filled with laughter, music, and community spirit on Saturday, 15 August, as residents gathered for a memorable Beer, Burger, and Blues evening in support of the Team Langebaan Residents Association (TLRA).

The fundraiser brought residents and local role players together for an evening focused on raising funds, celebrating what can be achieved when a community works together, and reflecting on the difference TLRA has made in Langebaan over the past year.

TLRA founder Peter Lindenberg shared an overview of some of the association’s achievements. He thanked residents and community role players for their ongoing support and emphasised that TLRA’s greatest vision is to make a visible difference in the community.

Lindenberg said he was proud to call Langebaan the best community to live in, pointing to the willingness of residents and organisations to work together on issues that affect the town.

Among the initiatives highlighted was the development of improved communication between residents, the South African Police Service, the Community Police Forum and local security companies. TLRA has also helped more than 700 children receive new school shoes and socks, demonstrating the association’s commitment to supporting the wider community.

The evening also attracted well-known television personality and Langebaan resident Johan Stemmet, who supported the fundraising initiative in a very personal way.

A variety of sought-after items were auctioned during the evening, including genuine buffalo leather bags, a rugby ball signed by Springbok player Eben Etzebeth, three laps in a racing car with Lindenberg, a boat trip and a return flight in a Baren aircraft.

Stemmet generously donated two of his handmade guitars to the auction, adding a unique local touch to an already exciting line-up of auction items.

Following the auction, blues band High End Blues kicked off the evening’s entertainment by performing on one of Stemmet’s handmade guitars, creating a fitting musical highlight to the event.
For TLRA, the fundraiser comes at an important time as the association continues to reposition itself to serve Langebaan’s growing and increasingly diverse community.

“As our town evolves, so must we,” the association says, emphasising its commitment to ensuring that residents’ voices are heard and that important community matters are actively monitored and addressed.

TLRA represents the interests of all Langebaan residents, whether they are property owners or tenants. Central to its approach is accountability and transparency.

The association’s Digital Action Tracker records community issues raised with the municipality, meetings held, municipal commitments followed up and outcomes achieved. The system enables residents to see what has been addressed and which matters are still in progress.
“We don’t just talk, we track,” TLRA says.

The association’s vision is to build “a vibrant, inclusive and safe community where every resident feels heard and empowered.”

Its mission is to represent residents’ interests, promote community welfare, manage communal resources effectively and strengthen neighbourhood engagement through transparent and proactive leadership.

Membership of TLRA is open to individuals and corporate entities who reside in Langebaan or own fixed property in the town. Membership is free.

The Beer, Burger and Blues evening was therefore not simply a fundraiser. It was a reminder of the strength that lies within Langebaan when residents come together, support local initiatives and take an active interest in the future of their community.
