On Saturday, 13 June, the Port Owen Yacht Club hosted its much-anticipated Winter Wonderland event, bringing together local residents, boating enthusiasts and families for an evening of festive fun on the water.
The event, a joint initiative between Canoe & Kayak World and the Port Owen Yacht Club, was open to ‘anything that floats’, resulting in a colourful display of decorated vessels lighting up the marina.
The illuminated flotilla created a spectacular sight as participants cruised through the marina, reflecting colourful lights across the water while spectators enjoyed the festive atmosphere from the shoreline.
Port Owen Yacht Club Vice-Commodore Jeff Hampton thanked everyone who participated and supported the event.
‘’A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for the magical Winter Wonderland event. Your enthusiasm, smiles and wonderful spirit made the evening truly special and filled with festive warmth,” Hampton said.
He added that the club is grateful for the support shown by the community and for helping to create lasting memories.
The event highlighted the strong community spirit of Port Owen, with organisers already looking forward to the popular Christmas Float planned for later this year.
