The West Coast Youth Orchestra recently had the privilege of performing at the Choral Celebration Network Foundation Prestige Concert op Saturday 18 April at the iconic Cape Town City Hall.
Marking a truly special moment for the organisation and its young musicians.
For many of the players, this was their first time performing in a venue of this calibre. The excitement of stepping onto such a historic stage was matched by the pride of representing the West Coast in a concert that brought together orchestras from across the region.
Under the direction of conductor Carina Brown, the orchestra delivered a performance filled with energy and commitment.
The programme, arranged by Eric Gerber, showcased the talent and growth of the orchestra and was warmly received by the audience.
The evening was not only about the music, but also about the shared experience. Learners, staff, alumni and supporters all played a role in making the performance possible. Many families and friends travelled to Cape Town to support the orchestra, creating a strong sense of community and celebration around the event.
Opportunities like this form an important part of the orchestra’s mission to provide young musicians from the West Coast with meaningful performance experiences. Taking part in a concert of this scale builds confidence, develops musicianship and inspires players to continue growing in their musical journeys.
The West Coast Youth Orchestra extends its sincere thanks to everyone who helped make the evening a success and looks forward to many more moments like this in the future.
