The case against a Bellville South woman accused of killing and decapitating her sister has been postponed again as she continues to wait for psychiatric assessment.
Aletta Rose (63) appeared briefly in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court on Monday 24 August.
The court heard that Rose remains fifth on the waiting list to be assessed by a district surgeon.
Prosecutors have provisionally requested a bed for Rose at Valkenberg Hospital in October.
The court has yet to determine whether she is fit to stand trial.
Psychiatric assessment still outstanding
Rose was referred for psychiatric evaluation following concerns about her conduct during previous court proceedings.
The assessment is expected to assist the court in determining whether she is fit to stand trial.
At her previous appearance on 24 July, the State confirmed that Rose had moved to fifth place on the waiting list for psychiatric observation.
The court postponed the matter at the time for an update on her position on the waiting list.
Rose remains in custody.
Accused of killing her sister
Rose faces a murder charge in connection with the death of her sister, Constance “Connie” Scholtz, at their Bellville South home in March.
Scholtz was 79 when she died.
Rose allegedly decapitated Scholtz and severed her hands.
Police arrested Rose after Scholtz’s body was discovered at the Bellville South property.
The case has come before court several times while Rose awaits psychiatric assessment.
She is due to appear in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court again on 23 September.
