CAPE TOWN – New details have emerged in the brutal Bellville South murder case involving an elderly woman: the victim was decapitated, and the suspect is believed to be her sister.
Meanwhile, court proceedings have been delayed after the 63-year-old suspect appeared in the Bellville Magistrates’ Court on Monday 23 March. According to National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila the matter has been postponed until Monday, March 30 for legal aid matters to be sorted out and bail had been abandoned.

He confirmed the accused, Aletta Rose (63), and the deceased, Constance Margaret Gaya Scholtz (79), born on 17 April 1946, were sisters. Reports also indicate that Scholtz was beheaded.

Memorial service planned
The community will gather to honour Constance’s memory at a memorial service scheduled for Thursday 26 March 2026, at 19:00, at the AFM (AGS) Church in Inspan Street, Bellville South.
Scholtz was described as “a beautiful soul who touched so many lives,” highlighting the profound shock to the community her death has been as well as the impact of her loss.
Police continued their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the brutal murder involving two sisters.
The case was due to resume when Rose appeared in court on 30 March.
