CAPE TOWN – Two people died in a collision on the N1 this morning (Saturday, 25 July).
Chief Director of Traffic Management for the Western Cape, Maxine Bezuidenhout, confirmed the incident.
“We confirm an incident on the N1, just after the R300 bridge, this morning at approximately 09:00, where a vehicle was involved in a collision. Tragically, two fatalities have been confirmed,” she said.
Bezuidenhout said emergency services and response teams attended to the incident.
The N1, direction Cape Town, was closed and significant delays were experienced. Road users were encouraged to make use of the R300 as an alternative route and to exercise caution when travelling in and around the area, she said.
The roadway has since been reopened.
