STELLENBOSCH – A couple were left seriously injured after they were allegedly attacked during an armed robbery at a farm near Stellenbosch on Friday (24 July) night.

Western Cape police have confirmed that Stellenbosch police are investigating a case of house robbery with aggravating circumstances following the incident, which occurred at about 21:00.

Captain Frederick van Wyk, Western Cape police spokesperson, said the homeowners, a man and a woman, were confronted by three unidentified suspects.

“Stellenbosch police registered a house robbery with aggravating circumstances following an incident on Friday, 24 July 2026 at about 21:00 at a farm near Stellenbosch. According to reports, the victims (owners of the house), a male and female, were accosted by three unidentified male suspects.”

According to Van Wyk, the suspects assaulted the victims with crowbars, then demanded their safe keys and took the firearms.

“They then fled the scene, leaving the couple badly injured. The victims were taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment,” Van Wyk added.

He added that the robbers were wearing balaclavas and were driving a white Toyota Corolla.

Local paramedic Kurt Maske also confirmed the incident. He said the suspects were armed and that the assault left the residents badly injured, especially the male. According to Maske, the suspects stole firearms and various other items before fleeing the scene.

Van Wyk said the investigation is continuing and no arrests have been made.
