GAUTENG – Three men are expected to appear in a local magistrates’ court after being arrested in connection with the alleged kidnapping of a 32-year-old man.

The victim was reportedly kidnapped in Jeppe on Thursday 20 August, after which the suspects allegedly demanded a ransom for his release.

According to police, information about the kidnapping was received by officers in Eldorado Park , who swiftly followed up.

Victim unharmed

The suspects’ vehicle was later spotted at Freedom Park informal settlement. Police approached the vehicle and arrested all three suspects.

The kidnapped man was found unharmed and was rescued.

Two 9 mm firearms were also recovered during the operation. Police said the firearms will undergo ballistic testing to determine whether they may be linked to other crimes.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects, aged between 32 and 39 years, are from George Goch hostel in Jeppe.

The investigationcontinues, with the three suspects expected to face a charge of kidnapping in court.
