STELLENBOSCH – Cloetesville police are investigating a case of murder after a man was found dead in the bathroom of an abandoned flat following a shooting on Friday 21 August.
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Zenobia Sedeman said the discovery was made when officers responded to a complaint in Kudu Street, Cloetesville, at 13:25.
On the police officers’ arrival, community members directed them to the man, who had allegedly been shot and had fled into the abandoned flat.
“Officers found the man inside the bathroom of the apartment in a seated position,” said Sedeman.
The victim was subsequently declared dead by emergency services at the scene.
Police have yet to release the name of the deceased, as his family have yet to identify him.
“The circumstances surrounding the shooting that led to the man’s death remain unknown. However, the incident is linked to gang violence,” said Sedeman.
