Three of Worcester Gymnasium’s talented chess players – Preston Hartman, Ben Barnard, and Lienka Viljoen – proudly represented the school at the South African Open Chess Championships from 2–5 July.
- Preston Hartman won 3 of his 7 matches, finishing 29th in his age group.
- Ben Barnard impressed with 4½ wins out of 7, securing 12th place in his age group.
- Lienka Viljoen delivered an outstanding performance, winning 5½ out of 7 matches to claim 3rd place in her age group – a phenomenal achievement.
