St Anne’s Technical High Triumphs at Curro Halala Cup 2026

The 2026 Curro Halala Cup delivered football at its finest, showcasing talent from every corner of South Africa. From the Western Cape to Limpopo, KwaZulu‑Natal, Mpumalanga, Free State and Gauteng, the nation’s footballing heartland was on full display.

The round‑robin stage brimmed with drama. Defending champions Curro Northern Academy suffered an early upset against debutants St Anne’s Technical High, foreshadowing their elimination on day two. Free State’s Virginia High and St Anne’s topped their pools, while Durban High surged late to secure second in Pool D. Meridian Pinehurst impressed with a defensive masterclass, conceding just once throughout the tournament.

The knockout rounds intensified the spectacle. CBC Mount Edmund edged Rosina Sedibane in a physical semi‑final, while St Anne’s overcame Clapham High in a tense penalty shootout, prevailing 5‑4 to book their place in the final.

The grand finale at HeronBridge College brought Gauteng and Free State face‑to‑face. CBC Mount Edmund surged to a 2‑0 lead, but St Anne’s rallied with resilience, levelling at 2‑2 before sealing victory on penalties. Captain Tshepang Mohoalali, named Player of the Tournament, embodied leadership and composure, inspiring his team to glory.

“The Curro Halala Cup is about building a football pipeline and legacy. It’s about creating opportunities, showcasing talent and giving every player a chance at something bigger,” said Cobus Loubser, CEO of Curro.

As the second edition concludes, the tournament once again highlighted the transformative power of sport. Young athletes demonstrated teamwork, resilience and discipline—qualities that will endure long after the final whistle.
