St Andrew’s College drummers crowned SA Champions


Makhanda – St Andrew’s College Pipe Band drummers achieved a landmark triumph at the South African Pipe Band Drumming Championships, hosted at Pretoria Boys’ High School. Five College drummers competed across Tenor and Snare categories, delivering performances that showcased skill, discipline, and artistry.

In the Novice Tenor events, Kwaleyela Imenda and Connor van der Linde impressed with strong sets, placing 5th and 4th, respectively. Oliver Kruuse delivered a polished and musical performance to secure 2nd place, underlining his growing craftsmanship.

The Snare categories brought historic victories:

  • Novice B Snare – Sibusiso Ngwenya claimed 1st place with a mature, musical performance.
  • Novice A Snare – Nicholas Theron delivered a confident, dynamic set to secure 1st place.

These achievements mark a milestone, as Ngwenya and Theron become St Andrew’s College’s first-ever South African Champions at the SASDC.

Adding to the celebrations, Mr Potgieter retained his title as the Adult South African Champion, reinforcing the College’s tradition of excellence.
