The St Andrew’s College 2nd XI continued their preparations in Harare with spirited performances against Wise Owl and Churchill College. While results did not go their way, the team showed encouraging progress in both batting and bowling, with fielding still an area for improvement.
Morning clash vs Wise Owl
Against Wise Owl, Leo Murray impressed again with a fluent 30 off 27 balls, supported by Josh Jones (22). With the ball, Ben Curtin delivered a superb spell at the death, claiming 3/15 to restrict the opposition.
Afternoon thriller vs Churchill
The contest against Churchill went down to the wire, despite College appearing out of reach with 10 overs remaining. Aiden Marriott (3/16), alongside strong spells from Leo Murray and Micah Rembe, forced Churchill to scramble to victory with only two balls left. With the bat, Captain Caleb Emslie stood tall, crafting a commanding 64 to keep College in contention until the final moments.
Building towards the tournament
Though the scoreboard did not reflect victory, the 2nd XI’s resilience and improvement throughout the week were clear. Their fighting spirit sets a determined tone ahead of the St George’s T20 Tournament starting tomorrow.
