KwaZulu‑Natal — Maritzburg College proudly celebrates the outstanding achievements of its learners in the prestigious De Beers English Olympiad, a national competition that challenges young writers to showcase creativity, critical thinking, and a love for language.
This year’s theme, “We Have a Choice – Victim or Victor”, inspired participants to engage deeply with the works of Nelson Mandela, William Shakespeare, Harper Lee, and Albie Sachs, sparking powerful reflections and original writing.
Medal Achievements
The College boys excelled, earning a remarkable 21 medals:
- Gold: D. Murekezi (Form 6)
- Silver: 14 learners
- Bronze: 6 learners
