Lucy Holderness of Diocesan School for Girls, Makhanda, proudly represented the South African U18A side at the recent U18 Interprovincial Tournament in Hilton before joining her teammates at the U21 IPT in Gqeberha during the August holidays.
Competing at senior level was an invaluable opportunity, and Lucy’s team rose to the challenge—securing a bronze medal and gaining a wealth of experience to carry forward.
One of the most memorable moments came when Lucy faced her big sister, DSG Old Girl Abigail Holderness, now studying at the University of Pretoria and representing Northerns. Two sisters, two teams, one Astro—and parents with the impossible task of cheering for both!
The tournament also reunited Lucy with familiar faces, including former Eastern Province representatives and DSG teammates Hannah Wannell and Trystin Burger, adding to the spirit of camaraderie.
Congratulations, Lucy, and well done to the South African U18A side on your bronze medal achievement. Your dedication, talent, and sportsmanship continue to make DSG proud.
