Lucy Flies the DSG Flag High! What a remarkable way to close out the Fairtree Super 12 Hockey Tournament. Following a hard‑fought final that saw Diocesan School for Girls, Makhanda secure second place in the South African rankings. DSG’s very own Lucy Holderness capped off an outstanding campaign with a collection of prestigious individual accolades:
- Player of the Tournament
- Midfielder of the Tournament
- Top Goal Scorer (shared)
- Goal of the Tournament
Behind these honours stands a young woman whose countless hours on the Astro have always been driven by her team’s success. Lucy Holderness is quick on her feet, fiercely competitive, and deeply dedicated to her sport. Yet, those who know her best will tell you that her greatest quality is her humility—she makes little fuss about her own achievements and is the first to acknowledge the teammates who have shared the journey.
Sweet‑natured off the Astro and a formidable force on it, Lucy has left an indelible mark on this tournament. Her passion, determination, and example inspire the girls who look up to her, and her achievements reflect not only her talent but also her character.
Lucy, we are immensely proud of you—not only for the accolades you have earned, but for the grace with which you carry them. Thank you for flying the DSG flag so high and for setting a standard that embodies the spirit of our school.
Well done, Lucy.
