The Diocesan School for Girls, Makhanda, proudly celebrates Emma Watson, who represented the South African U16B hockey team at the Zimbabwe Junior Hockey Series in Harare from 12–17 August.
With determination, anticipation, and countless hours of preparation, the team arrived ready to compete — and the tournament delivered thrilling hockey throughout.
South Africa dominated their pool stage, defeating Zimbabwe U16B (3–0), Namibia U16A (1–0), and Zimbabwe U16B again (1–0), earning a place in the final against Zimbabwe U16A.
The final was a nail‑biting contest filled with fast play, sharp saves, and relentless energy. After a tense draw, the match went to penalties, where the SA U16B side held their nerve to secure victory and bring home the gold medal.
Emma Watson’s growth in skill and confidence has been remarkable, and her passion for hockey shines through in every performance. Her humility and dedication make her an outstanding ambassador for DSG and South African hockey.
Congratulations, Emma, and well done to Team South Africa on this incredible achievement!
