Be prepared and know how long it should take to be treated according to an Emergency Unit triage process. Triage coding assists in managing our patients to ensure priority patient with life threatening conditions or injuries are attended to first. Patients are color coded according tor their condition.

RED Very urgent – receives immediate attention

ORANGE Urgent – receives attention within 10 minutes

YELLOW – Receives attention within one hour of arrival

GREEN – You may have to wait longer if there are more serious patients to attend to. If the emergency unit is not too busy with priority red and orange patients, you could be attended to sooner

Should your condition deteriorate while waiting, please inform the triage nurse immediately.
