Walmer: Body of girl (10) found in vandalised house

Police are seeking community assistance in tracing suspects allegedly involved in the murder of a 10-year-old girl.

Walmer police detectives urgently seek the community’s assistance in tracing the suspect/s allegedly involved in the murder of a 10-year-old girl whose body was found yesterday, July 24, in Airport Valley, Walmer.

According to police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg, it is alleged that at approximately 17:00, SAPS Walmer responded to a complaint  of a body lying in a vandalised house in Airport Valley.

On the police’s arrival, the community pointed out the body of a girl. 

“She had visible burn wounds on her body. The child has been identified, however, a formal identification will be done before her identity can be released.

“According to information, she was last seen on Friday, July 21. She was never reported missing,” said Janse van Rensburg.

The motive for the murder is unknown and the investigation is ongoing.

Police is appealing to anyone who can assist in the investigation or in tracing the suspect/s to contact SAPS Walmer on 041 5094030 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or the nearest police station.
