A suspect was arrested two days after a man was found stabbed on the stairs at a block of flats in Military Road, Central.

On Tuesday, September 27 just before 21:00, Humewood police members responded to a complaint at the flats. Upon arrival, police were told that residents found 25-year-old Goodson Tshombe on the stairs with a stab wound to the chest.

Police spokesperson, Capt. Sandra Janse van Rensburg, said that while the deceased was being transported to hospital in a private vehicle, they managed to stop a passing ambulance in Castle Road, who declared Tshombe dead.

“A murder case was opened and SAPS Humewood worked tirelessly to trace the suspect. On Thursday, September 29, the 35-year-old suspect was arrested at his residence in Central,” Janse van Rensburg said.

He is expected to appear in court soon.
