GQEBERHA – The suspect linked to the murder of Shaune Marais (56) has been arrested.

SAPS Walmer detectives have made a breakthrough in the murder investigation after Marais was fatally stabbed during an alleged road rage incident in Circular Drive, Lorraine, at about 20:27 on 23 October.

Police spokesperson Captain Andre Beetge confirmed that a 58-year-old male suspect was arrested today, 29 October, and that the SUV had been impounded for further analysis.

“The arrest follows after five days of intense investigation,” he said.

Beetge added that it is alleged that Marais, who was driving a white Honda Accord, was involved in a suspected road rage incident with the unknown driver of a blue or silver SUV.

“The exact make and model are not available, and SAPS are requesting information from anyone who might have witnessed the incident or knows the identity of the driver of this vehicle,” he said.

Beetge added that the suspect is expected to appear before the Gqeberha Magistrate’s Court tomorrow, 30 October.

“The investigation continues,” he concluded.
