GQEBERHA – Police in Swartkops has appealed to the public for assistance following a double murder in Wells Estate, Gqeberha.
Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg said the incident occurred on Thursday, 9 April, at about 17:00, when officers responded to a shooting complaint at a residence in Cikolo Street.
“Upon arrival, officers found a white VW Polo TSI parked in the street, with both front doors and the left rear door open,” she said.
“A man, aged 30, was found lying in the passenger seat with multiple gunshot wounds. An elderly woman, aged 65, who was seated in a wheelchair beside the front passenger seat, had also sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Both victims were declared deceased at the scene,” said Janse Van Rensburg.
She added that the motive for the attack remains unknown and no arrests have been made at this stage.
“The names of the deceased will be released once formal identification has been completed,” she added.
A case of double murder has been opened and investigations are ongoing.
