Much loved and respected Carte Blanche presenter, Derek Watts has passed away today, August 22.

According to Netwerk24, Watts’ daughter Kirsty, confirmed this in a Whatsapp message. She said they are devastated. He was the most wonderful person that they knew.

Kirsty told Netwerk24 in the Whatsapp message that “he always cared about people and last night he said that he would like to thank his viewers. He appreciated and loved his work,”

He recently announced his retirement from Carte Blanche to focus on his health. This was after he landed in hospital with sepsis earlier this year. He was diagnosed with skin cancer last year that spread to his lungs.
