It was a momentous occasion for the parents and learners as Coselelani Combined Secondary School honoured their outstanding players during their year-end awards ceremony at their school assembly area on Tuesday.
Coselelani CSS deputy principal, Nomfanelo Qaba-Makeleni, praised the players, school coaches, community coaches, the entire school, and the parents for their unwavering support of their school.
Qaba-Makeleni said, “Today is a very special day for the players who put our school on the map. Whether you take home a medal, trophy, certificate, or not, your input is highly invaluable to the entire school. All in all, it means that your contributions make all of you winners. Your dedication, diligence, and discipline have indeed set high standards for our school.”
Qaba-Makeleni expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the players, school coaches, community coaches, the entire school, and parents for their contributions towards the school’s success in sport. “Without your support, our school could not have been where it is today. Teamwork has helped us set our goals and objectives. The parents have been very supportive of our school. There was healthy cooperation between our school coaches and community coaches. Our players are our ambassadors to the school sports world, and the entire school has been instrumental to our teams. I would like to thank everybody.”

Girls’ athletics:
- Ogcobo Rala and Avuzwa Beyi (both in 200m & 800m)
Boys’ athletics:
- Alulutho Babile (200m & 400m
- Indiphile Nowala & Simamkele Nyiki (both in 3000m)
Cross-country:
- Simamkele Nyiki and Simphiwe August (both boys)
Cricket:
- Luxolo Haroff (youngest player of the season), Siphosethu Mlumiso (most valuable player),Bulela Masumpa (player of the year)
Netball:
- Amanda Peter (most valuable player and player of the season)
Girls’ rugby:
- Imange Mali (youngest player of the year), Lisakhanya Kaptain (Senior player of the season).
Boys’ rugby:
- Ayola Makisi (most improved player of the season), Afrika Mlumiso (leadership award, backline and most valuable player of the season), Lubambo Kuluta (team spirit award), Thembisa Dumezweni (newcomer and top try scorer of the season), Ndoza, Melumzi Makhasi and Siphamandla Mnqwazi (all honours awards), Olwam Soya (forward and senior player of the season)
Boys’ volleyball:
- Lathitha Dodo (player of the year), Bathanda Limani (best defender of the season), Mihlali Kitsana and Athenkosi Toni (best attackers of the season, Aphiwe Mzamo, Philasande Njuze and Bekwa Dili (all best defenders of the season)
Basketball:
