Police officer fatally shot at Motherwell Magistrate’s Court


The Motherwell Magistrate’s Court has been closed off after a police officer was allegedly fatally shot earlier today, May 3.

The Express has received reports that the officer was shot and fatally wounded in the line of duty and his firearm taken from him. A suspect was allegedly also shot during the incident.


UPDATE | Provincial Hawks spokesperson, Captain Yolisa Mgolodela confirmed that a court orderly was fatally wounded at the Motherwell Magistrate’s Court this morning, 3 May. 

She further said when the suspect was caught, he fired shots at the police and he was injured in the process. 

Mgolodela said the suspect has been hospitalised.
