CHANNEL Porto FC’s communications manager and head of development and marketing, Sifundo Boltina, dedicates most of his time to sports development.
The Uitenhage-born 41-year-old administrator revealed to PE Express that his love for sport started when he was 12 years old. He was one of Stokes United FC’s best u/12 players and competed up to the senior team level.
Boltina stated that MOFA forced clubs to have at least two junior teams, which should play in its junior leagues.
To date, Boltina has used his technical skills to train six junior teams, which are u/9, u/11, u/13, u/15, u/17 and u/18. Some of the u/18 boys are also given a run to showcase their talent in the senior team.
According to Boltina, MOFA recruited some coaches to participate in a coaching clinic, which was held at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in December 2019 for 15 days. He attended the training and obtained a CAF-C Licence.
“Since our club is not run by one man, the club requested me to run their marketing and communications department.
“I said that I would take the club to greater heights. I grabbed this opportunity with both hands and I told myself that I would take the community of Motherwell NU 10 and surrounding areas on board.
“I served as MOFA junior league coordinator, but I decided to relinquish this responsibility because I am pursuing my studies, since I want to develop as an individual,” said Boltina.
Porto FC chairperson, Vuyolwethu Isaac, is one of the people who have played an important role for Boltina. He described Isaac as a visionary leader who accepts the opinions of other people. As such, Boltina has organised two sponsorships for Porto’s juniors and seniors. Boltina played for Villagers Masters FC for two seasons but he stopped playing football after he broke his ankle. He joined hands with Mthetheleli Mange and other five officials to form the Chippa United FC Motherwell Supporters Club.
“I do not have enough time to spend with my family because I dedicate my time completely to sport. I am the manager of development, marketing and communications and a Chippa United fans official,” said Boltina.
