AN emergency visit to the doctor, on May 15, unexpectedly changed the lives of the Kannemeyer family.

Father-of-five, Junior Kannemeyer, experienced surging pains in his abdomen and had to be rushed to the nearest emergency care centre.

When Kannemeyer arrived at the Netcare Greenacres Hospital various CT and X-ray scans were done on him, with doctors concluding that an emergency operation needed to be done.

Thereafter Kannemeyer was diagnosed with a severe case of diverticular disease.

He has since been in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Greenacres Hospital and has had four operations in attempts to save his life.

“My father is a hard-working man who always strives to uplift and assist the community in which we live,” said Dexter, who is the eldest son.

It was unfortunate that Kannemeyer at the time of experiencing abdominal pain could not be rushed to a state hospital therefore the Kannemeyer family are experiencing difficulties with regard to the required medical bills.

Cheryl, who is Junior’s wife, has decided to host a reunion benefit event for her husband in order to raise funds for his medical bills.

Junior’s Reunion Black and White Benefit event will take place on Friday at the Malabar Community Centre.

The event will be inclusive of various lucky draws and music from the finest local DJs.

Cheryl has also opened a site on GoFundMeSA where individuals can contribute to Kannemeyer’s medical bills. “We are hoping that people will come out in their numbers to support this event,” said Cheryl.
