Two girls, aged 18 and 12, have been killed in a shack fire in
Noxolo Street, New Brighton in Gqeberha.
According to police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse Van
Rensburg, it is alleged that the incident occurred at approximately 08:45 today.
“The mother of the two girls, Sinokhelo and Similile
Ngqoboka had gone to the neighbours to charge her cell phone. Upon return she
noticed the fire raging but was unable to enter the shack or to reach her
children. Both children passed away in
the fire,” said Janse Van Rensburg.
She added that the cause of the fire is unknown, and the
investigation is still ongoing.
