Five suspects will be appearing in the Gqeberha Magistrates Court today, August 8, following the recovery of stolen property after a business robbery in Seaview on Friday.
At approximately 09:30, a spaza shop in New Rest was robbed. Shortly after the robbery was reported, information relating to the suspects was immediately circulated via all SAPS channels. It is alleged that five suspects fled the scene in a blue Mazda Midge. The area was flooded with vehicles on the lookout for the suspects and all exit routes were blocked.
Police spokesperson, Capt. Sandra Janse van Rensburg, said that at approximately noon, police spotted the suspects’ vehicle at another business and tactically approached it. “Due to teamwork between SAPS Kabega Park, the community and a private security company, five suspects were arrested and all the stolen property, including cigarettes, cash and two cell phones, were recovered. A toy firearm was also confiscated,” she said.
The suspects were arrested on charges of business robbery.
