Five suspects were nabbed, four still at large after business robbery in Greenbushes.

GREENBUSHES – Five suspects, aged between 17 and 28, were arrested following a business robbery at a supermarket in Greenbushes on Saturday, 21 March, at approximately 12:30.

It is alleged that nine armed suspects entered the shop on Seaview Road and threatened the complainant (26) and his co-workers, ordering them to lie on the ground.

The suspects ransacked the store and fled with various items, including cartons of cigarettes, vapes, sweets, cash, cellphones, and watches, with an estimated value of R80,000.

In a statement SAPS said that police responded swiftly and were alerted to a vehicle accident on Old Seaview (De Stades) Road, Chelsea, possibly linked to the robbery.

Upon arrival, members spotted six suspects fleeing the scene. After a brief foot chas, and with the assistance of private security, five suspects were apprehended.

Stolen items, including cigarettes, sweets, and a large amount of cash, were recovered from the vehicles involved, a silver VW Polo and a white Ford Fiesta. Both vehicles were seized for further investigation. No firearms were recovered.

The suspects remain in custody and are expected to appear in the Gqeberha Magistrate’s Court during the week. No injuries were reported during the incident.

Police investigations are ongoing, and efforts to trace the remaining suspects continue.
