Investigation continues after 87-year-old man found murdered in home in Gqeberha

Mount Road police is urgently seeking the community’s assistance in tracing suspects linked to the murder of Ockert Bosch (87) in his home at Hornbill Crescent, Cotswold Extension on August 19.

According to police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, it is alleged that at approximately 08:45 on Friday, August 19, community members alerted the police of a possible housebreaking in progress as they noticed someone suspiciously exiting Bosch’s house.

“On arrival, the members found the back door forced open.  The house was ransacked and the elderly man was found lying on the floor. At the time no foul play was suspected due to the medical history of the deceased. However, post-mortem results indicated to the contrary and revealed that the cause of death was due to a blunt force trauma to head,” said Janse Van Rensburg.

“Various items were stolen, such as clothing, household appliances, wall clocks, including a washing machine and a unique patterned tea set.“

Police are investigating a case of housebreaking and murder.

“An appeal is made to second hand shops to be on the look out for the tea sets and if identified to contact the police. For any information relating to the murder, contact D/WO Riaan Steyn on 082 657 0447 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or the nearest police station. Anonymous tip-offs can also be communicated via MySAPS App. All information is confidential.”
