Wanted suspect, Luthando Bafani (35) was arrested by police this morning, July 23, after establishing that he was hospitalised with gunshot wounds.
According to police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, investigations revealed that he was allegedly shot multiple times by two unknown men while driving in Daku Street in Kwazakele, on July 22.
She said no case has been opened at the police station.
“Police received information that he was taken to hospital, and he was arrested by members of the Provincial Organised Crime Investigation and SAPS New Brighton,” said Naidu.
She said Bafani is alleged to have been involved in the fatal shooting of Bagcine Sith (23) and Andile Williams (29) on July 19, 2022, in New Brighton.
“At approximately 02:15 on July 19, 2022, the victims were shot and killed at a house in Mhambehlala Street, New Brighton,” said Naidu.
She said a warrant for his arrest was issued.
Naidu said he is expected to appear in the New Brighton Magistrate Court soon on double murder charges.
