A businessman from East London, was allegedly kidnapped by five men in front of his business in Amalinda on Thursday, July20.

Capt. Yolisa Mgolodela, Hawks spokesperson, said Pramesh Hooka the owner of Autostyling, was closing his shop at around 17:40 when he was allegedly kidnapped by 5 African males.

“Law enforcement agents around East London assisted the Hawks’ kidnapping task team to hunt for the suspects who are reported to have shoved the victim into a champagne coloured Toyota Avanza they were driving in. There is no knowledge of ransom yet, but the team is dealing with the matter,” said capt. Mgolodela.

No arrests have have yet been made.

A video is doing the rounds on social media, where it can be seen how a man is dragged on the ground by men before being put in the boot of an Avanza. The vehicle then speeds off. Express could not verify that it is in fact video footage of the kidnapping, but the time stamp on the footages, coincides with the police report.
