The PE Gilbert and Sullivan Society is gearing up for the latest instalment of Blast from the Past, a firm favourite with audiences who love the annual feast of foot tapping, sing-along, classic hits.
This year’s show has a great new line-up of top local talent performing some of the greatest hits from the 50s to the 80s. There’s something for everyone in this show, whether you were rocking around the clock when the songs came out or just love great music.
Blast from the Past is directed by exciting newcomer, Danyke de Beer, fresh from her standout performance as Lola in Mind My Broadway. In a neat twist, she will be directing Leandi Fontini who sat in the director’s chair for the critically-acclaimed Broadway revue.
The cast is full of fantastic local performers, including the ever-versatile Bennie Gerber, who had audiences in stitches as Mr Wormwood in Matilda the Musical and Robert in Boeing! Boeing! Joining him on stage are Guilia Jonas, Annaline Stiglingh and Milo Dyantyi from the 2023 Valentine’s Cabaret, alongside Sam Kleinbooi and Emma Brown from Mind My Broadway.
As always, G&S is showcasing some outstanding new talent with the likes of Chante Potgieter, Timothy Jacobs and Jody Koesnel, and there will be special guest appearances from Harrison Nash, Kurt Terblanche and Phil Cowie.
Blast is jam-packed with two hours of fantastic hits from artists including Elvis, Tina Turner, Frank Sinatra, ABBA, Cindy Lauper, Billy Joel, The Monkees and Toto.
The show runs at the Savoy Theatre from Thursday, July 27 to Saturday, July 29 at 19:30 nightly, with a matinee at 14:00 on Saturday, July 29.
